Hotel: Amari Watergate Bangkok
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok was our second destination on our itinerary. When I first came across Amari Watergate online I knew I wanted to experience their hotel, little did I know how amazing the overall experience would be.
Arriving to Amari Watergate was quite easy. The subway was located just underneath the airport and dropped us off a 10 minute walk away from their hotel. Note to travellers, check the temperature before going, I was extremely overdressed and nearly passed out upon arrival. Thankfully the staff was so helpful, greeted us with water and quickly took our bags from us. The check in process was so smooth and everything was quickly taken care of while we settled into their vip lounge.
The food options at the Amari was insane. This was the first time I've ever stayed at a hotel that offered food choices of such magnitude. The food gallery was designed in a buffet style celebrating Asian cuisine with multiple show kitchens, a wine cellar and a bar. I obviously found myself devouring numerous spring rolls and pineapple juice... the pineapple juice... the best! Other restaurant options included Thai, Italian, Indian and more.
The layout of the food gallery was beautifully designed with pops of colour every where. The bonus of our dining experience was meeting the head chef. He told us a little history behind the gallery, where the inspiration came from and even recommended some of his favourite.
Located on the 8th floor was the hotel pool and spa. Obviously we had to take advantage when everyone was still asleep.
When someone tells you to try the Thai massage, especially since you're in Thailand, you do it. Just be prepared.
Greeted with a lavender drink that changed colours when lime was squeezed into it, we settled in, checked off what we wanted done and was taken into the massage room. We first changed into an outfit that was prepared for us before we entered, was given a quick foot massage that was done in cucumber scented water, than taken to lie down.
Traditional Thai Massage, I know I was walked on at some point. I felt my body get bended and pulled in ways I never thought was possible. At some point during the massage all I wanted to do was laugh because I didn't think such techniques was possible. As the massage came to an end I remember looking over to Elaisha and seeing tears in her eyes which later turned to laughter followed by gratitude. I was so relaxed I wanted to do the massage all over again... pain and all!
Overall, our stay at Amari Watergate was more then I could of expected. The views from the lounge was unbeatable, the location was right across from multiple shopping centres and did I mention, we had happy hour everyday from 5-7. Definitely one of my favourite moments.
Thank you so much to our Amari family for the accommodations, we will definitely be visiting again soon!
